Top 10 movie trilogies of all time

What is better than 1? It’s 3 !!! There are many trilogies made but very few live up to be legendary..let’s see which trilogies made the list..

Let the countdown begin!

10.Three Flavours Cornetto Trilogy

Many of you might have watched this Trilogy, but you didn’t even realize it. Yes! I was too shocked to some extent that this is the name of this Trilogy. The movies are Shaun of the dead ,  Hot fuzz and The world’s end. If you have not watched the trilogy , you are missing out on three great laughter rides.

What’s it about:

The Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy is a series of British comedic genre films directed by Edgar Wright, written by Wright and Simon Pegg, produced by Nira Park, and starring Pegg and Nick Frost.

9. Spiderman trilogy

I have said it before and I say it again, I loved Tobey Maguire as the spiderman and he is the best one till date ( no offence Tom Holland..:P). This trilogy went places making this one of the best Superhero trilogy from casting the perfect spiderman to some very great super villains like Doc Oc. Sam Raimi was effortless on the directors seat and did all the justice making a  perfect superhero trilogy. Starting off with the origin story , perfect sequel and the third one:P (should not have added too many villains).

What’s it about:

“Spider-Man” centers on student Peter Parker (Tobey Maguire) who, after being bitten by a genetically-altered spider, gains superhuman strength and the spider-like ability to cling to any surface. He vows to use his abilities to fight crime, coming to understand the words of his beloved Uncle Ben: “With great power comes great responsibility.”

8. The Matrix Trilogy

When The matrix came out , it was a huge film considering the concept , the action sequences  , the acting , the directing and most of all the film was so cool and every one was trying to copy that. This movie spawned a lot of praise and lot of scenes from other movies inspired from this. Even though the sequels could not live up to the mark , I still think this Sci-Fi extravaganza deserves a spot in my list.

What’s it about:

Neo (Keanu Reeves) believes that Morpheus (Laurence Fishburne), an elusive figure considered to be the most dangerous man alive, can answer his question — What is the Matrix? Neo is contacted by Trinity (Carrie-Anne Moss), a beautiful stranger who leads him into an underworld where he meets Morpheus. They fight a brutal battle for their lives against a cadre of viciously intelligent secret agents. It is a truth that could cost Neo something more precious than his life.

7. Terminator Trilogy

This movie series actually escalated my excitement for Sci-Fi movies ( counting out the recent ones that ruined the franchise ofcourse). This series introduced us to James Cameron who is counted as the greatest Directors of all times today  , this was his launchpad. Terminator 2: Judgement day being the best one in the series which reintroduced Arnold as the good guy. Although third one could not live up to the mark this trilogy definitely makes it to my top ten list.

What’s it about:

Disguised as a human, a cyborg assassin known as a Terminator (Arnold Schwarzenegger) travels from 2029 to 1984 to kill Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton). Sent to protect Sarah is Kyle Reese (Michael Biehn), who divulges the coming of Skynet, an artificial intelligence system that will spark a nuclear holocaust. Sarah is targeted because Skynet knows that her unborn son will lead the fight against them. With the virtually unstoppable Terminator in hot pursuit, she and Kyle attempt to escape.

6. Indiana Jones Trilogy

It would be a sin if I do not include this Trilogy in my list. Of course, who doesn’t love Indiana Jones in his cowboy hat and his friendly whip going out for a deadly adventure. Raiders of the lost arc , ofcourse being the best out of the rest , followed by the temple of doom , darker sequel but enjoyable at the same time, and the last crusade which was a one time watch , but without which the series would be incomplete. Also, who could forget the iconic soundtrack which gave us goosebumps whenever it played. Totally deserves this spot in my list.

What’s the story:

Renowned archeologist and expert in the occult, Dr. Indiana Jones, is hired by the U.S. Government to find the Ark of the Covenant, which is believed to still hold the ten commandments. Unfortunately, agents of Hitler are also after the Ark. Indy, and his ex-flame Marion, escape from various close scrapes in a quest that takes them from Nepal to Cairo.

5. Star Wars Original Trilogy

As I said in the last post (Most anticipated movies of 2017), I am not a Star wars Fanboy  , but it is difficult not to include this Epic Space saga in this list. Second one being the best (Again!) which also gives us the most popular twist endings of all times ( Fanboys  , you know what I am talking about) , This Franchise spawned millions of fans when it came out back in 1977 and it has a very strong and dedicated fan base of all time!

What’s it about:

On Tatooine, Luke’s home planet, the exiled Jedi Obi-Wan Kenobi, in the guise of a kindly old hermit named Ben Kenobi, watches over him. When Luke realizes his Jedi potential, he teams with Han Solo, joins the Rebels, destroys the Death Star and rescues Leia from Darth Vader.

4. The Dark Knight Triology

What happens if we hand over a Superhero Script to Mr.Christopher Nolan? We get a genius of a Trilogy that is so perfect in every of its aspects , right from the direction , acting skills of some of the greats in the industry like Christian Bale, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, and  late Heath Ledger as a best supervillain ever!

What’s it about

With the help of allies Lt. Jim Gordon (Gary Oldman) , Batman (Christian Bale) has to keep Gotham a safe place from raging Supervillains like Joker (Heath Ledger) , Bane ( Tom Hardy) and others to prove himself as a Savior  or the Vigilante

3.The Godfather Trilogy

Francis Ford Coppola’s epic adaptation of Mario Puzo’s equally epic book was a perfect crime drama to ever come out.Second one being the best among the three this crime trilogy was epic in all its aspects which tells us the story of the infamous fictional crime family of all time! The Corleones!

What’s it about:

Widely regarded as one of the greatest films of all time, this mob drama, based on Mario Puzo’s novel of the same name, focuses on the powerful Italian-American crime family of Don Vito Corleone (Marlon Brando). When the don’s youngest son, Michael (Al Pacino), reluctantly joins the Mafia, he becomes involved in the inevitable cycle of violence and betrayal. Although Michael tries to maintain a normal relationship with his wife, Kay (Diane Keaton), he is drawn deeper into the family business.

2. Back to the future trilogy

Doc. Brown : ” Great Scott! Look Marty , our tale is the 2nd best movie trilogy of all time!”

Marty: “Yeah doc! That’s heavy!”

This is my favorite pick in the lot for the best trilogy ever made! I mean , show me one person who doesn’t love Back to the future! This Zemeckis- Spielberg classic gave us everything from time travel ,the comic timing  , great acting , the flux capacitor , the flying delorean, rumble in the west  , the 1986 depiction of 2015 ,  everything about this movie is smothered in perfection! EPIC!!!!

What’s it about:

In this 1980s sci-fi classic, small-town California teen Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) is thrown back into the ’50s when an experiment by his eccentric scientist friend Doc Brown (Christopher Lloyd) goes awry. Traveling through time in a modified DeLorean car, Marty encounters young versions of his parents (Crispin Glover, Lea Thompson), and must make sure that they fall in love or he’ll cease to exist. Even more dauntingly, Marty has to return to his own time and save the life of Doc Brown.

And my No.1 Pick for the best Trilogy ever made is……

1. Lord of the Rings Trilogy

Peter Jackson’s ultimate fantasy tale stays on the top of the list, just for its authenticity, detailed picturisation, shot in beautiful locations, action packed performances by all the cast and crew. No wonder it (Return of the King) swept all the awards it was nominated for in Oscars that year.Yes! all 11 of them. Well deserved to be on the no.1 spot on this list.

What’s it about:

The future of civilization rests in the fate of the One Ring, which has been lost for centuries. Powerful forces are unrelenting in their search for it. But fate has placed it in the hands of a young Hobbit named Frodo Baggins (Elijah Wood), who inherits the Ring and steps into legend. A daunting task lies ahead for Frodo when he becomes the Ringbearer – to destroy the One Ring in the fires of Mount Doom where it was forged.LOTR

That’s all for now folks!
